As with many great stories of humble beginnings, Learning Matters, Inc. began in 2006 as a conversation between friends. Around a kitchen table, Christie Andrews and Deb Kitchens shared coffee and dreamed of a place where kids, regardless of their parents’ income, could come and receive remediation, instruction and academic mentoring. Today, Learning Matters tirelessly serves the 1-in-5 students impacted by a diverse learning style. Corporate gifts, foundation grants, and individual gifts help us to provide prescriptive-level intervention to students whose families could otherwise not be able to afford it.
Mission
Learning Matters works to reduce barriers to learning and ensure educational equity for K-12 students with learning disabilities through skillful academic assessment, interventional tutoring, and school advocacy.
Our team of experienced learning specialists will assess student academic abilities and offer intensive intervention to:
- remediate the student’s needs
- improve performance and grades in school,
- increase students’ feelings of self-worth, and
- enhance opportunities for success in life.
